Transgender MtF Facial Electrolysis in Chicago
Now Offering Large-Volume Electrolysis Under General Anesthesia
Written estimates for large volume facial electrolysis
Whether Electrolysis Works Has Never Been The Question. Sitting Through It Is.
Facial hair is the thing most transgender women want gone first, and it is the one area where electrolysis beats every alternative. It is the only method the FDA recognises as permanent, and it takes the light and gray hairs laser leaves behind. We clear the beard, jawline, neck, upper lip and chin at our clinic in downtown Chicago.
So we built the treatment day around the part people dread. Two or three electrologists work on you at once, and you choose from four levels of comfort, ranging from awake and numb to completely asleep under general anesthesia. Every plan is quoted individually, so tell us about your hair and we will send you a written estimate.
Four Levels Of Comfort For Facial Electrolysis
Most clinics hand you numbing cream and hope for the best. We go further than that, all the way up to sleeping through the entire treatment day. Every level below works for beard, jawline, neck, upper lip and chin.
General Anesthesia
You are unconscious for the whole planned treatment. We start the anesthesia with inhaled gas through a mask, so there is no IV line and no needles, and we skip the local numbing injections entirely. On a face that last part matters: nothing to bruise, nothing to swell from the injections themselves.
IV Twilight Sedation
An IV goes in and sedation medication is given. Most people get deeply relaxed and sleepy, drift in and out of the day, and remember very little of the middle of it. Local anesthetic numbs the beard area on top of that, so the hours pass without much registering.
Oral Conscious Sedation
The medication is taken by mouth, so no IV is needed for the sedation itself. You stay awake and can talk to us, ask us to pause, or ask how far along we are. Oral sedation does not numb skin on its own, so it comes paired with cream, lidocaine and nitrous oxide.
Awake With Local Comfort
Prescription strength numbing cream, lidocaine injections dosed by your weight, and nitrous oxide you hold and breathe yourself whenever a patch turns out worse than the rest. Plenty of clients finish an entire beard clearance on this and nothing more.
The Provider Who Sedates You Stays With You
Our anesthesia and sedation providers do not give you your medication and then go elsewhere. They stay at the clinic with you for the full session, watching your breathing, oxygen and comfort from the moment you go under until you are ready to be discharged, and they adjust or re-dose whenever it is medically appropriate. You are never left in the room with only the electrologists.
What Is Large Volume Electrolysis?
Standard electrolysis is a one hour appointment every week for years. That does not work if you live three states away, or if you have a surgery date on the calendar. Large volume means several electrologists treating you at the same time in long sessions, so a single day covers what months of weekly visits would.
One electrologist for up to seven hours is 7 combined hours. Two working at once is 14. Three is 21. We plan and estimate by combined electrologist-hours, which is the total treatment time performed by everyone working on you. It is not the same as the number of hours you spend asleep or in the chair.
Key Benefits Of Large Volume Facial Electrolysis
More Hair Cleared Per Day
Two or three electrologists work at the same time, up to 21 combined electrologist-hours in one day. Dense beard growth is exactly what this was built for.
You Decide How Much You Feel
General anesthesia, IV twilight sedation, oral conscious sedation, or awake with numbing cream, lidocaine and nitrous oxide. Every level is available for facial work, and plenty of clients get through a whole plan on cream and lidocaine alone.
Your Provider Never Leaves The Room
Our anesthesia and sedation providers stay at the clinic for the full session, watching your breathing, oxygen and comfort until you are ready to be discharged, and they re-dose whenever it is medically appropriate.
Plan On More Than One Day
Hair grows in cycles, so nothing gets everything in one sitting. If your first clearance is estimated at around 14 electrologist-hours, expect roughly 3 to 4 visits, or about 35 electrologist-hours in total. Density, growth cycle, hormones and any previous hair removal all move that number.
How Much One Facial Treatment Day Can Cover
There are no fixed packages. Every treatment day is sized to your beard, the areas you want cleared and your surgery date. These are the formats we build facial plans from, under general anesthesia or IV twilight sedation.
One Electrologist
A focused day for clients starting out, or for one area of the face that needs a concentrated clearing. The same hours can also be split between two electrologists working at once.
Two Electrologists At Once
Two electrologists work side by side for the whole day, so the full beard, jawline and neck can be covered in the same visit.
Three Electrologists At Once
Our highest volume single day. Two electrologists can work on the face while the third takes the body or a surgical preparation area.
Two Consecutive Days
Two electrologists for up to 7.5 hours each, two days in a row. Built for clients traveling to Chicago who want to get the most out of one trip.
How Many Visits To Expect
Hair grows in cycles, so no single day clears everything. Density, hormones and any previous laser all move these numbers.
when your first clearing is estimated at around 14 to 15 combined hours, or roughly 35 to 37 hours in total.
when your first clearing is estimated at around 21 combined hours, or roughly 70 hours in total.
Prefer to stay awake? Oral conscious sedation and the awake local comfort protocol are booked by the hour rather than as a full treatment day, and they are included in your estimate the same way. Hours are combined electrologist-hours, not hours under sedation. Sedation and anesthesia are administered and dosed by an anesthesia professional.
Every Facial Plan Gets Its Own Written Estimate
The cost of facial electrolysis depends on how much hair there is, how dense and how light it is, which comfort level you choose, how many electrologists you need and how many visits your timeline allows. A price list would be wrong for most people, so we quote each plan individually.
Send us a few details through our contact form. We reply with a personal estimate that covers the combined hours, the number of visits, the comfort level that fits you and the full cost, before you commit to anything.

What To Expect On The Day Of The Large Volume Treatment
Arrival
Come 10 to 15 minutes early so check-in does not eat into your treatment time.
Screening And Clearance
Every client completes medical screening and gets anesthesia clearance before we book the day, not on the morning of it. If you are having sedation or anesthesia you will need a supervised recovery period and a responsible adult to take you home. We go through all of this on your consultation call.
Privacy And Comfort
Our staff will escort you to your treatment room, where you have privacy to change and get settled before your session begins.
Treatment Preparation
Your nurse practitioner comes in to prepare you and answer anything still open. If you are having numbing cream, it goes on 10 to 30 minutes before we start.
Clean And Safe Environment
You will always be treated in a clean, sanitised environment that prioritises your health and safety.
Sterile Equipment
At the start of each session you receive a new, sterile probe matched to your hair type, skin condition and pain threshold. Every probe is disposed of after your treatment.
Skin Positioning
Your electrologist may ask for help stretching or pulling your skin, depending on the treatment area and your skin elasticity. You may also be repositioned during the session to make an area more accessible.
Your Provider Stays With You
Whoever gives you your sedation or anesthesia stays at the clinic for the whole session and monitors you until discharge. You are never left in the room with only the electrologists.
Afterwards
Electrolysis can leave temporary redness, sensitivity or swelling. With general anesthesia we skip the extensive local numbing, so there is no injection swelling or bruising to recover from. Most clients feel fine being seen in public within a few days, though recovery varies from person to person.
