Topical numbing cream and local numbing injections are both included in our ElectrolysisMed+ service. We provide topical numbing cream for all clients and offer local numbing injections for those who desire additional comfort during their treatment. Using a weight-based dose, our board-certified nurse practitioner will administer numbing medication directly into the treatment area with a small needle. You will be awake for this. Clients will often report a small poke and slight burning sensation as the medication is injected.
It normally only takes a few minutes to lose feeling in the area where a local anesthetic is given. You shouldn’t be able to feel any pain after having a local anesthetic, although you may still feel some pressure or movement during your electrolysis. Full sensation should return when the medicine has worn off a few hours later.

This method allows you to feel relaxed during your electrolysis treatment. Although your electrolysis procedures may take hours, you’ll feel as if they only take minutes. Some patients become so relaxed that they fall asleep. The effects of the sedative typically subside the following day. It’s a very effective method of sedating.
