Transgender MtF Facial Electrolysis in Chicago

Now Offering Large-Volume Electrolysis Under General Anesthesia

Package pricing for large volume facial electrolysis

Whether Electrolysis Works Has Never Been The Question. Sitting Through It Is.

Facial hair is the thing most transgender women want gone first, and it is the one area where electrolysis beats every alternative. It is the only method the FDA recognises as permanent, and it takes the light and gray hairs laser leaves behind. We clear the beard, jawline, neck, upper lip and chin at our clinic in downtown Chicago.

So we built the treatment day around the part people dread. Two or three electrologists work on you at once, and you choose from four levels of comfort, ranging from awake and numb to completely asleep under general anesthesia. Below is what a facial treatment day costs at each level.

Four Levels Of Comfort For Facial Electrolysis

Most clinics hand you numbing cream and hope for the best. We go further than that, all the way up to sleeping through the entire treatment day. Every level below works for beard, jawline, neck, upper lip and chin.

Asleep

General Anesthesia

You are unconscious for the whole planned treatment. We start the anesthesia with inhaled gas through a mask, so there is no IV line and no needles, and we skip the local numbing injections entirely. On a face that last part matters: nothing to bruise, nothing to swell from the injections themselves.

No IV induction. No needles.
Drifting

IV Twilight Sedation

An IV goes in and sedation medication is given. Most people get deeply relaxed and sleepy, drift in and out of the day, and remember very little of the middle of it. Local anesthetic numbs the beard area on top of that, so the hours pass without much registering.

One or more doses when appropriate.
Relaxed

Oral Conscious Sedation

The medication is taken by mouth, so no IV is needed for the sedation itself. You stay awake and can talk to us, ask us to pause, or ask how far along we are. Oral sedation does not numb skin on its own, so it comes paired with cream, lidocaine and nitrous oxide.

Charged by the hour, not by package.
Awake

Awake With Local Comfort

Prescription strength numbing cream, lidocaine injections dosed by your weight, and nitrous oxide you hold and breathe yourself whenever a patch turns out worse than the rest. Plenty of clients finish an entire beard clearance on this and nothing more.

Drive yourself home after ProNox.

The Provider Who Sedates You Stays With You

Our anesthesia and sedation providers do not give you your medication and then go elsewhere. They stay at the clinic with you for the full session, watching your breathing, oxygen and comfort from the moment you go under until you are ready to be discharged, and they adjust or re-dose whenever it is medically appropriate. You are never left in the room with only the electrologists.

The Method

What Is Large Volume Electrolysis?

Standard electrolysis is a one hour appointment every week for years. That does not work if you live three states away, or if you have a surgery date on the calendar. Large volume means several electrologists treating you at the same time in long sessions, so a single day covers what months of weekly visits would.

One electrologist for up to seven hours is 7 combined hours. Two working at once is 14. Three is 21. We price by combined electrologist-hours, which is the total treatment time performed by everyone working on you. It is not the same as the number of hours you spend asleep or in the chair.

Why This Works

Key Benefits Of Large Volume Facial Electrolysis

01

More Hair Cleared Per Day

Two or three electrologists work at the same time, up to 21 combined electrologist-hours in one day. Dense beard growth is exactly what this was built for.

02

You Decide How Much You Feel

General anesthesia, IV twilight sedation, oral conscious sedation, or awake with numbing cream, lidocaine and nitrous oxide. Every level is available for facial work, and plenty of clients get through a whole plan on cream and lidocaine alone.

03

Your Provider Never Leaves The Room

Our anesthesia and sedation providers stay at the clinic for the full session, watching your breathing, oxygen and comfort until you are ready to be discharged, and they re-dose whenever it is medically appropriate.

04

Plan On More Than One Day

Hair grows in cycles, so nothing gets everything in one sitting. If your first clearance is estimated at around 14 electrologist-hours, expect roughly 3 to 4 visits, or about 35 electrologist-hours in total. Density, growth cycle, hormones and any previous hair removal all move that number.

A large volume day is four hours or more. What you pay depends on how many combined electrologist-hours you book and which comfort level you choose. Everything below covers facial and body work.

One-Day Packages With General Anesthesia

Two Electrologists At Once

The Breakdown
Electrolysis · 14 hrs × $185$2,590

Total package$6,255
If your initial clearance is estimated at around 14 electrologist-hours, expect roughly 3 to 4 treatment visits, or about 35 electrologist-hours in total. Hair density, growth cycles and the area being treated all move that number.
Three Electrologists At Once

21-Hour Package

$9,070
Up to 21 combined electrologist-hours

Three electrologists work at the same time for up to 7 hours. Two can work on the face, for example, while the third takes the body or a surgical preparation area.

  • Our highest volume single day under general anesthesia
  • Best value per electrologist-hour
The Breakdown
Electrolysis · 21 hrs × $170$3,570
General anesthesia$5,500
Total package$9,070
If your initial clearance is estimated at around 21 electrologist-hours, expect roughly 5 to 6 treatment visits, or about 70 electrologist-hours in total. Depending on regrowth at each stage, later visits may mix the 14-hour and 21-hour packages.

Package pricing includes the daily preparation fee and general anesthesia services. A deposit reserves your treatment date and the balance is due before treatment begins on the day. Package hours are combined electrologist-hours, meaning the total treatment time performed by all electrologists, which is not the same as the number of hours you spend under general anesthesia.

Level 02 · Drifting

Facial And Body Packages With IV Twilight Sedation

An IV is placed and sedation medication is given. You get deeply relaxed and sleepy, drift in and out, and tend to remember very little of parts of the day. Local anesthetic numbs the treatment area. Choose 7.5, 15 or 30 combined electrologist-hours, all priced at $170 per electrologist-hour.

One Treatment Day

7.5-Hour Package

$2,275
Up to 7.5 combined electrologist-hours

  • Two electrologists at the same time for about 3.75 hours each
The Breakdown
Electrolysis · 7.5 hrs × $170$1,275

Electrolysis · 15 hrs × $170$2,550
IV twilight sedation$1,000

Two Days · 15 Hours Per Day

Level 03 · Relaxed

Hourly Rate With Oral Conscious Sedation

The sedation is taken by mouth, so there is no IV for the sedation itself. You stay awake and can talk to your team while feeling calmer. Because oral sedation does not numb skin on its own, it comes with our full local protocol.

Face & Body

Complete Face And Body Treatment Rate

$325 per hour
Charged hourly, not by package
  • Face and body electrolysis
  • Oral conscious sedation and anxiety medication
  • Prescription topical numbing cream
  • Local lidocaine numbing injections
  • ProNox nitrous oxide gas
The Breakdown
Face and body electrolysis$200/hr
Complete Comfort Protocol$125/hr
Total$325/hr
You take the medication before we begin, so by the time you are in the chair the edge has already come off. The cream has been working on the surface, the lidocaine takes the area to properly numb rather than just dulled, and the ProNox sits in your hand for whenever a patch turns out to be more sensitive than the rest. You will still need someone to drive you home.
Included

Available At Every Treatment Level

  • Prescription topical numbing cream
  • Lidocaine numbing injections, dosed by weight and given by a board-certified nurse practitioner
  • ProNox nitrous oxide gas that you control yourself
  • Oral conscious sedation and anxiety medication
  • IV fluids and hydration
  • IV twilight sedation and general anesthesia
  • Customised IV vitamin therapy, $150 to $250 additional
  • Your sedation provider stays at the clinic for the entire session

Hours are combined electrologist-hours, not hours under sedation. Estimates and visit counts are approximate and vary with hair density, growth cycle, the area treated, hormonal influences and your previous hair removal history. General anesthesia is available only to medically eligible patients and is administered and monitored by qualified anesthesia professionals, who retain responsibility for all anesthesia related medical decisions and may modify a planned anesthetic.

Your Treatment Day

What To Expect On The Day Of The Large Volume Treatment

01

Arrival

Come 10 to 15 minutes early so check-in does not eat into your treatment time.

02

Screening And Clearance

Every client completes medical screening and gets anesthesia clearance before we book the day, not on the morning of it. If you are having sedation or anesthesia you will need a supervised recovery period and a responsible adult to take you home. We go through all of this on your consultation call.

03

Privacy And Comfort

Our staff will escort you to your treatment room, where you have privacy to change and get settled before your session begins.

04

Treatment Preparation

Your nurse practitioner comes in to prepare you and answer anything still open. If you are having numbing cream, it goes on 10 to 30 minutes before we start.

05

Clean And Safe Environment

You will always be treated in a clean, sanitised environment that prioritises your health and safety.

06

Sterile Equipment

At the start of each session you receive a new, sterile probe matched to your hair type, skin condition and pain threshold. Every probe is disposed of after your treatment.

07

Skin Positioning

Your electrologist may ask for help stretching or pulling your skin, depending on the treatment area and your skin elasticity. You may also be repositioned during the session to make an area more accessible.

08

Your Provider Stays With You

Whoever gives you your sedation or anesthesia stays at the clinic for the whole session and monitors you until discharge. You are never left in the room with only the electrologists.

09

Afterwards

Electrolysis can leave temporary redness, sensitivity or swelling. With general anesthesia we skip the extensive local numbing, so there is no injection swelling or bruising to recover from. Most clients feel fine being seen in public within a few days, though recovery varies from person to person.
